HomeGrid HG-FS48100-15OSJ1 Battery Module, Lithium Iron Phosphate, 48VDC, 4.8 kWh, For Use with the Stack'd Series System
HomeGrid Stack'd Series Overview
The HomeGrid Stack’d Series is a modular energy storage system designed for family homes, off-grid cabins, peak rate TOU (time-of-use) offset and small commercial projects. The key components are the BMS (Battery Management System) and Base (sold separately), which are the top control module and base stand, and the HG-FS48100-15OSJ1 Battery Modules which are stacked in the middle. Multiple Battery Modules (2 min - 8 max) can be stacked for a total capacity range of 9.6kWh - 38.4kWh per stack. Up to 15 battery stacks can be connected together in parallel for a combined total max capacity of 76.8kWh - 576kWh. Each stack in a multi-stack system must be of equal capacity (the same number of Battery Modules) for proper system configuration and operation. Users can monitor and operate their HomeGrid Stack’d Series systems remotely via the HomeGrid Energy mobile phone app.
HomeGrid Battery Module Overview
The HomeGrid HG-FS48100-15OSJ1 Battery Module is an excellent value for all energy storage applications. Its deep cycling capabilities make it a perfect match for off grid applications and its high efficiency is ideal for self-consumption, peak load shaving and battery backup in grid tie systems. Each battery module uses a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4 also known as LFP) chemistry that is one of the safest lithium battery types available and offers greater cycle life when compared to most other Lithium Iron technologies. The HG-FS48100-15OSJ1 Battery Modules are easily installed by stacking them on top of each other. Each battery module has a power switch, a row of DIP switches and an RS232 port. The power and communications circuits of each battery are connected as the modules are stacked together. There is no extra wiring or bus bars between the battery modules.
HomeGrid BMS and Base Stand Overview
The HomeGrid Battery Management System (BMS) is the control unit at the top of each stack. The front of the BMS has an LED display that monitors and manages information relevant to the status of the system including State of Charge (SOC), State of Health (SOH), voltage, current and even cell temperatures inside the battery. In addition to the LED display, the BMS also has configuration switches, communication ports, power connections and an on/off switch.
The BMS will automatically manage charging and discharging. It includes protection features that guard against over-discharge, over-charge, over-current, and high/low temperatures. The BMS will balance the battery cells to maximize the energy that can be stored and recovered. Firmware and Wi-Fi connection (2.4 GHz) are also built into the BMS.
The Stack’d Series Base Stand functions as a stand in which the battery modules can rest on. Additionally, the stand puts the battery modules 7.75 inches off the ground for protection.
